Family Paths - a non-profit client feature
Alameda County-based Family Paths offers needed help to low-income children and their families in a traumatized community. Its mission statement is simple: Family Paths strengthens family relationships by providing mental health treatment and supportive services with respect, integrity, compassion, and hope. What they accomplish is so much more.
Headquartered in Oakland and serving all of Alameda County, Family Paths is a multicultural agency committed to providing mental health, counseling and case management services to families. Focusing on the inherent desire and capacity of humans to learn and grow, and the desire each of us hold for our children to experience safety, security, and an improved future, Family Paths develops non-judgmental relationships that support multi-stressed families.
Their hotline is an easily accessible resource for families who are isolated, embarrassed to tell friends about their situation, or who just need a starting point for help and support as well as for families who are currently in crisis. Mental health and family support can make a critical difference to the success of a family and its members. Family Paths is committed to providing support that can make a quantifiable difference in lives – and in our communities.
Family Paths has provided mental health services to support children and families since its inception as Parental Stress Service in 1972. Today, with over 70 employees and more than 50 volunteers under the direction of Executive Director Marcella Reeves, Family Paths provides services from offices in Oakland, Hayward and Fremont. Services include a 24-hour Family Support & Resource Hotline, a 24-hour Foster Parent Advice Line, Emergency Respite Child Care, CalWORKs Case Management, and Positive Parenting Classes.
