Featuring Momentum for Mental Health - a Non-Profit Client
Scott Valley Bank is honored to provide banking services to many fine non-profit entities throughout its various regions.
Periodically in this e-publication we will share a feature article about a non-profit entity in the Bank's regions to increase awareness of their work. As October 2 – 8 was Mental Illness Awareness Week, Santa Clara County-based Momentum for Mental Health is featured in this edition.
With offices in San Jose and Palo Alto, Momentum for Mental Health’s staff of more than 370 employees (representing over 11 cultures, languages and dialects) provides services to over 3,600 individuals to help achieve mental and emotional health, discover and reach their potential, and fully participate in life.
Founded in 1997, Momentum for Mental Health is a private, nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of individuals, foundations, and corporations to support its services. Believing that education of the public is critical to eliminating the stigma and lack of support that often creates delays in treatment, Momentum also supports efforts to educate the public about issues relating to mental health in an effort to dispel the “myths” surrounding mental illnesses and the people who have them.
Momentum for Mental Health will host the 14th annual Shining Stars Rising Above Stigma Benefit, Thursday, November 17th at the Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto. Individuals recognized at the event with Shining Stars Awards of Excellence for 2011 will be KGO radio host Gene Burns, and Patty Fisher, Director of Policy and Communications at The Health Trust. Also recognized will be El Camino Hospital which is funding certain Mental Health services for people with no other access to Mental Health care.
Scott Valley Bank applauds Momentum for Mental Health for its work to assist in recovery, treatment, support, and for providing an avenue for individuals affected by mental and emotional illness to realize the opportunity to lead healthier lives.
