Blackberry Music Festival - Sept. 6th - SUMMER CONCERTS Grand Finale
As the 14th season of Scott Valley Bank's Summer Concerts in the Parks comes to a close, we'd like to thank all of our sponsors, the wonderful bands and you - our neighbors who came out to enjoy the concerts. It was great!
We'd also like to remind you of the grand finale - Blackberry Music Festival, Sunday, Sept. 6th From Noon til 6 pm at the Mt. Shasta City PArk in Mt. Shasta
The Mt. Shasta Rotary Club is set for the 23rd annual Blackberry Music Festival with an exciting program of musical talent and family picnic fun. Once again there will be no admission fee for this event thanks to Scott Valley Bank, which is cosponsoring the music for the festival as part of its Summer Concerts in the Parks series.
Three bands will play during the afternoon offering an exciting variety of music. Beginning at noon, One Horse Shy will open the festival with an unique blend of original ballads, Americana, and upbeat roots music. Young jazz keyboard phenom Jack Taforo will take the stage with friends at 2:00. Closing the day from 4:00 to 6:00 will be the funky rock & roll dance music of Sound Advice.Families are encouraged to spend the afternoon in the park. A variety of games and races will be organized for children throughout the day.
The Rotary Club will offer a barbecue lunch, desserts, beverages and event t-shirts. A popular feature is always the berry pies, baked exclusively for the festival the night before by Rotarian volunteers. Pie can be purchased whole or by the slice, with or without ice cream. The sale of these items supports the clubs many community service projects such as support for the Mt. Shasta Library, the Shasta Disabled Sports program, dictionaries for local third grade students, senior nutrition, and other local projects.
The Blackberry Music Festival has become a Labor Day Weekend tradition in Mt. Shasta, drawing local families and friends together with area visitors for a Sunday afternoon of music and fun to celebrate the end of summer.
