WHAT WE ARE DOING TO PROTECT YOUR CHECK CARD FROM FRAUD
Monday, July 16, 2007

We have important information to share regarding measures Scott Valley Bank takes, and your role, to help protect against victimization by possible fraudulent use of your ATM/Check Card information.

We May be Calling You:
To protect your account, we routinely monitor all Scott Valley Bank ATM/Check Card transactions for potentially fraudulent activity.
Types of activities that trigger our attention include:
• sudden change in locale (such as when a U.S.-issued card is unexpectedly used overseas)
• a sudden string of costly purchases made anywhere
• or any pattern similar to emerging or existing fraud trends around the world

If we suspect fraudulent ATM/Check Card use, we will call you to validate the legitimacy of your transactions.  Your participation in responding to our call is critical to prevent potential risk and avoid inconvenience to you with restrictions we may otherwise place on the use of your card.

Should such an instance occur, you can expect an automated call that will state, “This is the Fraud Detection Center calling to verify recent activity on your Scott Valley Bank ATM/Debit (Check) Card.”
You’ll be asked to:
• enter the zip code of your primary account mailing address
• verify recent transaction activity on your card
• respond via your touchtone keypad
• call should you have additional questions (a number will be provided during the call)

You Should Contact Us:
• if you suspect or identify fraudulent transactions, or with any questions you may have
• whenever your phone number or address changes so we can easily contact you if need be
• when you plan to use your ATM/Check Card out of the country (we will then set the necessary parameters to allow your transactions to process as usual.)

Remember:
Your PIN is private.  You should never give it out and Scott Valley Bank will never ask for it.

Our goal, quite simply, is to minimize your exposure to risk and the impact of any fraud.  As always, please be diligent in monitoring transaction activity on your account and contact us immediately if you identify any unusual activity.  No one can stop all crooks from making attempts at fraudulent activity, but you should feel more secure knowing we have put systems in place to watch out for you.

Thank you for your patronage and for your continued confidence in Scott Valley Bank.
